Happy New Year Everyone!
It wasn’t planned, but I ended up taking a long break from posting regularly in order to finish up some important projects, focus on drafting Aria of the Void, get used to my new job as a social media manager, and figure out what I want out of 2026.
I was going to create a list of resolutions, as I normally do, but this year I felt like I needed to try something slightly different.
New Year New Writing Plans
As far as my writing goes, I have three novels to work on this year…
#1 Aria of the Void
Genre: High fantasy/gempunk
Status: Drafting
Current word count: 14,754
Goal: 1st draft finished by February 20th
#2 TMB (Title Reveal Soon!)
Genre: Royal intrigue fantasy/romcom
Status: Developmental editing
Current word count: 51,829
Goal: Finish all rounds of developmental editing by April 1st
#3 Mirage (Working Title)
Genre: Desert fantasy
Status: On hold/self editing
Current word count: 43,092
Goal: Begin reassessing/editing manuscript by the end of April(?)
I’ll also probably publish a short story or two in between working on manuscripts since I have a few fun ideas…
Social Media & Website Plans
I’ve been thinking a lot about the content I post lately—here on my website and on other platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest.
My main question was whether or not I should keep posting content similar to what I post now, or switch things up a little now that we’re in a new year.
I finally got my answer when I thought back to a few conversations I had recently with different writers.
Whenever I talk to people who want to write, I usually hear things like, “I want to write a book, but I have no idea where to even start!” or “I start writing but then I get overwhelmed…” and of course, “I want to write but I have no idea what to write!” or “I have too many ideas and never finish writing anything!”
Talking to all these people made me realize something…
A Voice of Encouragement
There are so many voices in our lives that tell us why we can’t, so I want to be a voice that keeps bringing up why we can.
Whenever I post an article, video, or anything else, I want to encourage and inspire people—especially other writers.
When I first started writing, I had no idea what I was doing. I was lost and basically stumbling around in the dark.
But eventually I found communities like Story Embers and The Company, and thanks to all the advice and support I received, I’m now a published fantasy author (and I have the books to prove it)!
I benefited immensely from the knowledge and experience of other writers, and now I feel like God has been putting it on my heart to share what I’ve learned with others as well.
So that’s my goal for social media this year:
Connect, inspire, and encourage.
What To Expect
What exactly does connecting, encouraging, and inspiring look like?
Well, some of it will look like what I’ve already been doing—sharing my experiences (things that work and things that don’t work), but I’d also love to hear from all of you if you have questions about writing or publishing.
I’ll still provide writing & life updates, and the occasional short story, but I’ll also include a few articles from guest posters that I think my fellow writers will find interesting and helpful…
So stay tuned for those!
At the end of the day, I’m still figuring out the best ways to encourage, connect, and inspire, but I’m looking forward to trying new ways and seeing how it goes.
Because you have a story that needs to be told.
Before You Go…
What are you looking forward to in this new year? What discourages you the most when it comes to writing?
Let me know down in the comments!
Also, I wrote an article over on Alli Prince’s website about one of the worst lies I’ve ever believed… Check it out here!
Your blog is such a happy and inspiring place! Thank you for being here.
Awww, thank you, Cecilia! I really appreciate you taking the time to read and comment!
