Fantastical Summer Anthology Releases Today!

New Release: Fantastical Summer Anthology

Today is the day! The Fantastical Summer Anthology is officially available!

If you’re looking for some sweet, lighthearted summer reads, I’d definitely recommend that you check out this book!

This anthology includes fifteen stories in total—all by fifteen different authors (including me).

So, which story is mine?

Confessions of A Mermaid Outcast.

There’s a whole backstory as to how I ended up writing a short story for this anthology (click here to read the article I wrote about that), but right now, I want to give you a sneak peak into what my story is about.

Behind-The-Story…

One of my favorite things to do when writing is to take a popular story trope and flip it on its head.

For example, in The Dragonslayer’s Birthright, I wrote about a hero who didn’t want to be a hero.

And in The Librarian’s Ruse—I can’t actually share how I subverted the trope there since it would be a pretty big spoiler, but if you’ve read it, then you might have noticed what I did…

For Confessions of A Mermaid Outcast, I decided to take the “mermaid gets captured by humans and wants to be rescued” trope, and completely turn it upside-down.

Free food? A safe place to stay—away from sharks and other predators? For a lonely mermaid it doesn’t sound like the most terrible situation to be in…

So if you’d like to read about my mischievous mermaid with a mission, you can click here to order your copy of the Fantastical Summer Anthology now!

Who This Story Is For…

I did my best to elevate the comedic elements of my mermaid’s situation, but it’s not all seashells and shenanigans in this story… A lot of the things I’ve struggled with in the past also ended up in Confessions of A Mermaid Outcast.

The pain of rejection, the bitterness and resentment that sticks around if you decide to dwell on your past, and even the fear of trying again.

This story is something that would have encouraged me when I was fifteen and suddenly found myself friendless and alone.

But I’m not the only one who included an impactful message in my story.

This anthology is filled with deep, coming-of-age short stories with happy endings and a fantastical twist.

So, even if you’re not sure you would personally enjoy the stories in this book, it would definitely be a great gift for any teen girls you know who are looking for their next great summer read!

Before You Go…

I can’t believe that this is my fourth time being published!

If you had told me six years ago that I’d publish one book before I reached the age of twenty-one, I would have thought you were hilariously wrong… Let alone four (soon to be five) books!

Did you see yourself somewhere completely different five years ago compared to where you are today?

Let me know down in the comments!

And don’t forget to check out the Fantastical Summer Anthology!
