A Fall Update

Next week I’ll be wrapping up my series on The 3 Types of Worldbuilders, but since it’s been a while, I wanted to give you an update on some cool things: a writing contest, an awesome experience, and a few writing projects I’m currently working on or that I’ve finished.

An Ambassador’s Ploy

For those of you who didn’t know, the third book in my Adventures In Eldnaire trilogy will be released sometime between January-March of 2025.

Throughout the month of October I worked on self-editing the manuscript and now that I’ve finished, I’ve sent it to my developmental editor. (yay!)

In The Meantime…

While I’m waiting to get my manuscript back, I’m super excited to work on a few of my other projects.

#1 Editing My Fantasy Novel

A while back I wrote a fantasy novel set in a desert. The title is a work-in-progress but I’m currently calling it Mirage.

Mirage features giant scorpions, royal conspiracies, and a mercenary protagonist.

Right now I’m working on self-editing the story, and it’s going pretty well (though there are a few changes I want to make and a few plot holes to fill). By far the best part of working on this story has been the research I’ve had to do… Especially on scorpions.

#2 Drafting My Royal Intrigue Romantic Comedy/Murder Mystery

This book has been begging to be written for months, but between all my other projects and life stuff, I had to set it on the back burner and content myself with jotting down ideas and character dialogue.

Unlike Mirage, this book already has a name (to be revealed at a later time), but its initials are TMB, so that’s how I’ll refer to it for now.

TMB started off as a lighthearted romantic comedy with a touch of royal intrigue, but turned into a murder-mystery…

This story will be a continuation, using the characters from the short story I wrote a few years ago, Rule of Dance. So if you’re curious, click here to check it out!

Teaching Experience

Last week Monday, I ended up guest teaching a middle/high school class on writing.

I started off by asking the kids questions to see how much they already knew about writing, and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of students who offered up answers.

(Although, now that I think about it, they might have been more eager to talk since I was giving out candy to anyone who answered correctly…)

The kids already knew quite a lot about writing, so I told them about how I got into writing, and why I decided to become a full-time author.

The class listened attentively and asked a bunch of great questions throughout my talk. When it was time for the class to end, they all groaned and asked if the class could be extended (it could not).

But since the kids were were so disappointed, their regular teacher asked me to return and guest-teach again the next week.

So I did!

I was absolutely blown away by how well the classes went and how much the students enjoyed asking questions and learning.

I’m definitely looking forward to speaking and teaching more classes in future. It was such an amazing experience!

Fall Writer’s Contest

I mentioned this a while ago, but I’m a judge for The Company’s fall short story writing contest!

The theme is Pumpkin Spice, the contest is completely free to enter, and the prize is a $100 Amazon gift card (and the chance to get your story published by The Pearl).

Your short story should be 1,500 words or less.

Click here to learn more about the contest or to enter.

I can’t wait to read your stories!

Before You Go…

Both of the protagonists in books I’m currently working on are mercenaries, and I can’t decide which of them has it worse, so I’ll let you decide!

Would you rather fight a bunch of giant scorpions, or be hunted down at every hour of the day by assassins?

Let me know down in the comments!
