Confession Time
I procrastinate a lot. When a task is set before me, I overthink the task and make it far bigger in my mind than it actually is in reality. As a result, the small, normal task becomes this huge, overwhelming ordeal.
This happens even with things that I love… Like writing stories.
But some things that help me overcome the overthinking/procrastination cycle are accountability, community, and encouragement.
When there are other people accomplishing the same, or similar tasks to mine, I’m less likely to get overwhelmed and put off the thing I’m trying to do.
That’s why I love opportunities like the Spring Writing Challenge.
The Spring Writing Challenge
The Spring Writing Challenge is a five-week flash fiction writing challenge where you can meet new writer friends, win cool prizes, and create some amazing stories with the encouragement and support of your team leader and fellow writers!
(And spoiler alert, I’m one of the team leaders this year!)
I was a team leader last year as well, and it was so much fun seeing all the cool stories everyone wrote during the challenge!
In addition to the fun community, publishing opportunities, and other surprises, you’ll also gain access to some super helpful writing lessons from Brad Pauquette, the bestselling author of The Novel Matrix.
And the best part is, the challenge is completely free!
So if you’ve been thinking about writing but procrastination has been blocking your path, I’d recommend using this challenge to clear the way.
